Hey, Check it! Square matte glitter nail art

Hey y'all!

Well, my shopping expedition on Monday was a bust.  The shop we were going to for my leather jacket closed on us, and I just wasn't successful finding anything in the other places we looked, so we came home and I'm back to shopping online to find what I'm after.  Jacket troubles aside, however, I've got some more new nail art goodies from bornprettystore to show off today, in the form of some thin plastic matte square "glitters" that I used to create this red and black checkered nail art.

To begin, I applied two coats of OPI First Date at the Golden Gate on my middle and ring fingers, and two coats of OPI Magazine Cover Mouse on all other nails.

I used a touch of top coat to apply the glitters in a checkered pattern.  I was easily able to use nail clippers to cut down the pieces on the sides and free edge.  I appreciate that unlike conventional glitters, these were really easy to pick up and manipulate on the nail because they're actually of thin plastic rather than paper or other sheeting.

As you can see, these glitters are flat and don't easily bend to the curve of your nail (the only downfall to being made of plastic), so they might be prone to snagging and flicking off unless they're secured tight.

I didn't realize until I took these pictures, but they do have one smooth side and one slightly textured side, so in theory the textured side might be better placed downward to help secure with nail glue or gel for a longer-lasting look.

These square glitters measure at 1/8in or 3mm square, come in a small plastic screw-lid pot, and are available in 12 colors total, including a couple of metallic shades.

I know a lot of you really hate textures and things that stick up off your nails, so I'm sure this look won't be feasible for some, but if you're like me and don't so much mind, these could have a variety of uses for unique short-term nail art looks.    Sound off down in the comments and tell me what you think!

Happy Humpday, y'all!  I will see you Friday!
